(Watertown, SD)—Serving our neighborhoods together, Watertown Area United Way partnered with local Applebee’s restaurant to participate in their Together We Care fundraising program.
On Tuesday, May 16th, 2023, the local restaurant was filled with patrons ordering off a featured five item menu with proceeds benefiting the Watertown Area United Way. Applebee’s General Manager, Heather Grewing, stated “As a person who was born and raised in this community, I love this town and I am so happy for this opportunity to work with nonprofits and help them achieve personal and communal goals.”
The Watertown Area United Way is a non-profit community-based volunteer organization whose purpose is to assist in meeting human care needs of Watertown Area residents. To strengthen families, help Watertown Area youth succeed, support vulnerable and aging populations, and promote self-sufficiency of Watertown Area residents.
Watertown Area United Way Executive Director, Laura Heathcote, stated “We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with local area businesses such as Applebee’s to build a stronger community. There are many parts to creating a community where everyone can thrive… and every part is necessary. United Way’s motto “Live United” is the hope of what those parts can do when we come together.”
A check presentation was held Wednesday morning, Applebee’s presented Watertown Area United Way Executive Director, Laura Heathcote, and Board Member Sean Melmer of First Premier Bank with event efforts of $338.
