Mission
The Watertown Area United Way is a non-profit community based volunteer
organization whose purpose

is to assist in meeting human care needs of Watertown Area residents.

History

The Watertown Area United Way was formed in 1971.  Prior to that time it was called the Community

Chest. United Way helps introduce new creative programs to the community through financial support. 

The Watertown Area United Way is focused on mobilizing the caring power of communities and

making a difference in people's lives.

    

 

United Way Highlights

1971     

The Watertown Area United Way is formed.  Prior to this it was called the Community Chest. 

1984 $100,000 raised for the first time.
1987

United Way Accounts are computerized and Loaned Executive

Program implemented.

1988 $200,000 is raised.
1989 

Heart Club Program is implemented (Leadership Giving) and Employee giving exceeds corporate

giving for the first time.

1993  $300,000 is raised.
1996 $471,000 is raised.
1998 

Business Division and Direct Mail are reformatted and Hot 100 begins.

2002  $590,000 is raised. 
2006  Watertown Area United Way hires full time Executive Director.
